PLA (polylactic acid) is a new type of biodegradable material made from starch raw materials extracted from renewable plant resources such as corn. PLA high strength without curl, very low shrinkage (0.3%) environmentally friendly materials, compost can be 100% degraded, excellent molding performance, stable thermoforming scale, good adhesion between layers, and good gloss . PLA has good compatibility, degradability, mechanical properties and physical properties. It is suitable for various processing methods such as blow molding and thermoplastic molding. It is easy to process and widely used.
The PLA can print large models without a heated platform and the corners are not easy to lift;
PLA has a low shrinkage rate and performs well even when printing larger sized models;
In the natural case, PLA is transparent, and the effect of printing after adding color is often bright and the gloss is good.
PLA working temperature is lower than ABS, saving energy and printing model is more easy to shape, surface gloss is good, colorful.
The modified PLA material not only has the toughness, mechanical properties and physical properties of the ABS material, but also has a low shrinkage rate, and does not produce the odor of the heated plastic during the printing process. It can also be used as a support material for ABS because it is easier to tear it off the printing platform. To remove the PLA support material, the model can be placed in an ultrasonic support material removal tank containing water and corrosive soda. The time and concentration of treatment depends on how much material needs to be dissolved. Then place the model in water at 80 degrees Celsius for 48 hours.
